Taste of Cairo Auditions

Taste of Cairo is the UKs leading Belly Dance Agency. With some of the most fabulous belly dancers in the country we are looking for new dancers to add to team.

We are seeking experienced dancers who want to forward their career and dance professionally.

How to audition

Follow the link below to register your interest in auditioning. Auditions will usually have 2 parts, a performance and an informal interview. The performance is so we can see your stage presence and technical skills. The informal interview is a short chat to get a taste of who you are and to see if you fit with the Taste of Cairo ethos.

There are a couple of ways to audition:

1. Submit a video performance
This should be no longer than 4 minutes, followed by a short and informal interview with a small panel. Informal interviews will take place online at a time to suit the dancer and panel. Videos can be pre-recorded or performed during the informal interview.

2. Prepare a dance to perform in-person and attend a workshop or class taught by Eleanor Gaywood
Alongside Taste of Cairo, Eleanor is also director of Shimmy School, a belly dance school in South Yorkshire. She holds weekly classes in Sheffield. Prepared dances should be no more than 4 minutes long. You will be given a date/time to perform for a panel, followed by a short informal interview. The interview may take place on a different date if required. Contact Eleanor at Hello@tasteofcairo.com or DM @ShimmySchool on social media for more information about classes or upcoming workshops or to request an in-person audition in Sheffield.

After the auditions

You will be contacted shortly after your audition to let you know whether you have been successful or not.

If successful you will be sent a performer agreement to sign and a form to fill out so we can add you to our website. Upon signing you will be asked for your availability on a monthly basis and added to the rota where engagements are available in your area. You will also have the choice of being added to our Taste of Cairo Dancers Chat on WhatsApp where you can get to know our other dancers, ask for advice, keep up to date with any upcoming workshops, social gatherings as well as post or look for any costumes for sale.

If you have not been successful this time, you will be given feedback; this does not mean you can’t audition in the future! We pride ourselves on supporting dancers at every level and want nothing more than to see you succeed. We will give you advice on how to develop and progress your career.
